1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and SkillFluent Academy ("SkillFluent", "we", "us" or "our"). They govern your access to and use of skillfluentacademy.com and every course, lesson, quiz, flashcard deck, document, certificate and other service we provide (together, the "Platform").
By creating an account, buying a course or otherwise using the Platform, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.
2. About the Platform
SkillFluent Academy is an online vocational learning platform. We offer self-paced courses in:
- Information Technology: cybersecurity, computer networking, cloud computing,
- Healthcare & Caregiving: CNA and HHA preparation, dementia and Alzheimer's care, medication administration,
- Safety & Compliance: OSHA compliance, fire warden, fire extinguisher use, HAZMAT awareness,
- Logistics & Industrial: forklift theory, supply chain,
- First Aid & Emergency: emergency first aid, AED awareness,
- Food Safety & Catering: HACCP essentials, catering food safety,
- Language Learning: Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Swahili, Hebrew and more.
Courses are made up of modules and lessons delivered as text, downloadable PDF documents, interactive flashcards and quizzes, and they end with a final assessment. You can use the Platform interface in 14 languages.
3. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these Terms for you and must make any purchase.
- You must give accurate, current and complete information. In particular, the name you confirm when you click "Get Certified" is printed on your certificate and cannot be changed afterwards, so please use your legal name.
- You can register with an email address and password, or with your Google account.
- You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us immediately at support@skillfluentacademy.com if you suspect unauthorised use.
- Each account is for one person only. You may not share, sell, transfer or lend your account or your course access to anyone else.
4. Course purchases and payment
- Prices are shown on each course page in the stated currency. Unless we say otherwise, they include any applicable taxes. The price charged is always the price in our system at checkout.
- All payments are processed securely by Paystack. By paying, you also agree to Paystack's terms. We never see or store your full card details.
- Your enrollment becomes active once Paystack confirms your payment. You will then find the course on your dashboard, and Paystack will email you a receipt.
- Each purchase is a one-time payment for a single course. It is not a subscription, and we will not charge you again automatically.
- Some courses may be offered free of charge. Free courses are subject to these same Terms.
- We may change prices at any time. Price changes do not affect courses you have already bought.
- If a payment is reversed or charged back, we may suspend access to the course concerned and to any certificate issued for it.
5. Refunds
We want you to be happy with your learning. You may ask for a full refund within 14 days of purchase as long as:
- you have completed less than 30% of the course, and
- you have not been issued a certificate for that course.
To request a refund, email support@skillfluentacademy.com with your account email and the course name. Approved refunds go back to your original payment method, usually within 5–10 business days. When a refund is issued, your access to that course ends.
Consumers in the EU/UK: digital content is delivered immediately. When you start a paid course, you ask us to begin supplying it straight away and you acknowledge that your statutory 14-day right of withdrawal may be lost once you start accessing it. The refund policy above still applies. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights.
We may refuse refunds where we see abuse, for example repeated buy-and-refund patterns.
6. Course access and licence
When you enroll, we give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to access and view the course content for your own non-commercial learning, as long as your account is in good standing and the Platform continues to offer the course.
You may download PDF materials provided in a course for your personal study. You may not:
- copy, reproduce, redistribute, resell, publish, or publicly display course content,
- share quiz or exam questions or answers,
- use course content to create competing products or to train machine-learning models,
- scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to access the Platform.
We regularly update courses to keep them accurate. We may revise, reorganise or retire content, and where possible we will keep your access to your completed work and certificates.
7. Assessments and academic integrity
Courses include quizzes and a final exam, all graded automatically on our servers. To pass an assessment you need a score of at least 66%, for example 17 out of 25 on a 25-question final exam. You can retake assessments you have not passed.
You agree that all work submitted under your account is your own. The following are strictly forbidden:
- letting another person take a course or assessment for you,
- using bots, scripts or other means to get answers or to manipulate grading or progress,
- sharing, selling or publishing assessment content.
If we find a breach of academic integrity, we may cancel results, revoke certificates and suspend or close accounts. We may do this without a refund.
8. Certificates
- When you complete every required lesson and pass the final assessment, you are issued a digital certificate of completion. You can download it as a PDF.
- Each certificate has a unique ID and a QR code that links to a public verification page. Employers and other third parties can use it to confirm that the certificate is authentic and whether it is still valid. That page shows your name, the course title, and the issue and expiry dates.
- Many certificates are valid for a limited period, 24 months by default, reflecting the need to refresh vocational skills regularly. After that, the verification page shows the certificate as expired. Some courses issue certificates that do not expire.
- We may revoke a certificate that was obtained by fraud, a breach of these Terms, or a payment that was reversed.
Important: a SkillFluent certificate shows that you completed our training. It is not a government-issued licence, and it does not replace any state, national or professional licence, registration or hands-on practical assessment that your employer, regulator or jurisdiction may require. For example, CNA/HHA state certification, forklift practical evaluation, OSHA outreach cards and hands-on CPR/AED skills checks are separate. It is your responsibility to check which qualifications your intended role requires.
9. Educational content disclaimer
Our courses are provided for educational and informational purposes. We work hard to keep them accurate and current, but laws, standards and best practices differ by location and change over time.
- Healthcare, first aid and medication content is not medical advice and does not replace professional clinical training, supervision, or the protocols of your employer. In an emergency, always call your local emergency number.
- Safety, compliance and food safety content does not replace the specific legal requirements in your jurisdiction, your employer's policies, or site-specific training.
- IT and cybersecurity content must only be used lawfully. Test systems only when you are explicitly authorised to.
We do not guarantee that completing a course will lead to employment, promotion, or any particular result.
10. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break any law or anyone else's rights while using the Platform,
- try to access accounts, admin areas, data or systems you are not authorised to access,
- probe, scan or test the Platform's vulnerabilities, or interfere with its operation, including through denial-of-service attacks or malware,
- reverse engineer, decompile or bypass any security or access control, including payment or content gating,
- impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone,
- forge, alter or misrepresent a SkillFluent certificate or its verification status,
- use the Platform to send spam or unsolicited communications.

11. Intellectual property
The Platform and everything on it, including course text, documents, quizzes, flashcards, graphics, logos, the SkillFluent Academy name, certificate designs, software and the selection and arrangement of all of these, is owned by SkillFluent Academy or its licensors. It is protected by copyright, trademark and other intellectual property laws. Apart from the limited licence in section 6, these Terms give you no rights in it. If you send us feedback or suggestions, you allow us to use them without restriction or payment to you.
12. Third-party services
The Platform relies on third-party services, including Paystack for payments and Google for optional sign-in, and it may link to external websites. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their content, availability or practices.
13. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Platform at any time and ask us to delete your account by contacting support. Deleting your account removes your course access, progress and certificates, and certificate verification links will stop working.
We may suspend or close your account, with or without notice, if you materially breach these Terms, act fraudulently, or put the Platform or other users at risk. Where the breach allows it, we will try to warn you first. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will do so, including the sections on intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law.
14. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Platform is provided "as is" and "as available". We make no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of harmful components, although we work hard to make it so.
15. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SkillFluent Academy and its owners, staff and partners are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, employment opportunity or goodwill, arising from your use of the Platform, even if we were told such damages were possible.
Our total liability for any claim relating to the Platform is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under applicable law. It also does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
16. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold SkillFluent Academy harmless from any claims, losses, liabilities and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, that arise from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Platform, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
17. Governing law and disputes
If you have a concern, please contact us first at support@skillfluentacademy.com. Most issues can be resolved quickly and informally, and we will do our best to help.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which SkillFluent Academy is established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be handled by the courts of that jurisdiction. However, if you are a consumer, you keep any mandatory protection given by the laws of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date above, and if the changes are material we will notify you by email or with a notice on the Platform before they take effect. If you keep using the Platform after the changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms. Changes never apply retroactively to purchases you have already made.
19. General
- Entire agreement: these Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Platform.
- Severability: if any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in full force.
- No waiver: if we do not enforce a right, that does not mean we have waived it.
- Assignment: you may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours as part of a reorganisation, merger or sale.
- Language: these Terms may be translated for convenience. If versions conflict, the English version prevails.
